TheThingsNetwork

is a crowdsourced Internet of Things data network, based on LoRAWAN which started in Amsterdam. In Amsterdam the initiators managed to create in 6 weeks a complete city-wide Internet of Things data network. And there have launched a global campaign to repeat this in every city of the world (press kit and more detail info : link ).

Having taken a look at the TTN site, meting a few people who have setup TTN for they own city and based on my experiments. The next step was to get in contact with people in my QTH Almelo who are also interested in TheThingsNetwork and LoRA and see if we can work together to finance and setup a TheThingsNetwork gateway in Almelo. Because there was no community page for Almelo, I asked the people from TheThingsNetwork to create one. After that I found out that there are allready 2 gateways marked in Almelo (one in south of Almelo and one in center of Wierden) but they where not active. Check them out at the TheThingsnetwork Community page for Almelo at https://www.thethingsnetwork.org/community/almelo/

Knowing that the TTN only can exist when there are working Gateways, some steps had to been make.

Next step : getting a gateway.
